Oh, that is a quote and a half. I sympathize so utterly. So much gets done when I put my mind to it, and yet it’s so easy to get distracted, wander off, eat, talk to people, NOT work…

Haha, exactly. I became a writer because my interests were too broad for any other activity. But the same broadness that let’s me write about so many things provides me with so many things to do instead of write. For instance, I spent three hours this morning doing voice and ear training. And I don’t even sing! (Although I do play piano.)

Since I write spec fic, I have to do a lot of research on science and such, and it’s so easy to get sucked into learning that I don’t write. And eating, and people-watching, and whatever.

I call it “The Writer’s Paradox”, although I can’t say for what percentage of writers it’s a problem.
